PAEE SW Region Event -

Building effective relationships for environmental justice through innovative programming

Environmental justice and anti-environmental racism are now being recognized as imperative to solving environmental problems. Organizations and federal and state grant funding have made environmental justice a priority. However, environmental science is the least diverse of the STEM fields. Therefore, we as environmental educators must forge relationships with organizations that have been systemically excluded from the field or have previously been thought to exist outside the realm of environmental education. This session will discuss the role and responsibility of environmental educators in anti-environmental racism and environmental justice education while offering an opportunity for members to join PAEE in creation of a new water justice education project.
